Yes, but that adaptation is limited to MICRO-evolution. Changes within types. God creates the types brand new. That's my view as well, and it's based on what nature can and cannot do, on the evidence.

I just realized that I have one of his books in my "to read" pile! I just bought "The Cell's Design" a few weeks ago. I'm looking forward to reading it.

So is it more accurate to say that Ross and Hugh accept the basic tenets of "Big Bang" cosmology, but they believe that God directly created the animal and plant kinds and also gave them the potential to adapt?

He wrote two wonderful books on the origin of life, which I thing is a fantastic argument.

His first book on the origin of life is:
Origins of Life: Biblical and Evolutionary Models Face Off

His second book on the Genesis account is: (I don't have this one)
Who Was Adam?: A Creation Model Approach to the Origin of Man

His third book is on the inner workings of the cell:
The Cell's Design: How Chemistry Reveals the Creator's Artistry

His Ph.D is in Chemistry from Miami University of Ohio. He was an industrial chemist and a Muslim before coming to faith in Christ on the scientific and historical merits!

In my understanding, neither Ross nor Hugh believe that evolution can create new kinds of animal body plans nor new types of organs (macroevolution). They only believe in microevolution - adaptation. So they are old earth creationists, not theistic evolutionists. They like intelligent design, but they don't think that it goes far enough to identify the designer as the God of the Bible. They are also inerrantists.

Wintery,
I'm just getting into Hugh Ross, but I saw The Privileged Planet a little over a year ago. I'm not a believer in old earth creationism, but I do think that old earth creationists have many good points. What has Rana written?

Hey! Hugh Ross was a favorite of mine when I was younger, and I still like his work, but Fazale Fuz Rana, who is also at RTB, is who I am reading now.

Ross and Rana are old Earth creationists. They believe in a literal Adam and Even, and a literal fall. They are inerrantists who believe that the yoms of Genesis should be understood as long periods of time, as St. Augustine spoke of.

For more on Ross's habitability and discoverability idea, you can track down the DVD The Privileged Planet featuring Guillermo Gonzalez and Jay Richards.
